The Best Candidate for California State Assembly AD24
I love California, but our state is facing a series of alarming and interconnected crises—
and too often, Sacramento has failed to confront their root causes. Affordability is out of control for families across our state, while California also struggles with fiscal instability marked by tens of billions of dollars in budget deficits, growing public safety concerns, and increasingly devastating environmental disasters such as catastrophic wildfires. These challenges are not inevitable; they are the result of years of misplaced priorities and a lack of accountability at the state level.
Despite voters demanding action, the state has failed to adequately fund and implement Proposition 36, leaving communities less safe and crime victims without the protections they were promised. At the same time, Californians are being asked to accept cuts and higher costs while waste, fraud, and mismanagement of taxpayer dollars continue unchecked. Tens of billions of dollars have been poured into the high-speed rail project with little to show for it. An estimated $26 billion has been spent on homelessness programs, yet homelessness has only worsened—largely due to a lack of transparency, accountability, and measurable outcomes.
As wildfires grow more destructive each year, families lose homes and livelihoods, insurance costs skyrocket, and state resources are stretched thin by poor planning and ineffective spending. Meanwhile, everyday residents—working families, seniors, small businesses, renters, homeowners, and crime victims—are too often left out of the conversation, even as they shoulder the rising costs of living.
California needs a course correction. As I am running, I would humbly offer leadership that puts residents first, restores affordability, demands accountability for every taxpayer dollar, prioritizes public safety, and focuses on results—not political talking points. Sacramento must once again work for the people it serves.
Yang Shao – The Most Experienced and Accomplished Candidate for Assembly District 24
As a Fremont City Councilmember and former Fremont Unified School District Trustee, I have always focused on measurable results—not slogans or political theater. Working together with our community, Fremont has become a model of what effective, accountable local governance can achieve.
Under our collective leadership, Fremont has been recognized as:
The Happiest City in the United States for six consecutive years
Best Place to Raise a Family in America for four consecutive years
One of the Top Ten Greenest Cities in the United States
The Safest City in Northern California
One of the Most Ambitious Cities in the United States
A national leader in advanced manufacturing, technology, and innovation
A city delivering thousands of units of affordable housing, balancing growth with quality of life
Fremont’s success did not happen by accident. It is the result of disciplined governance, data-driven decision-making, and a steadfast commitment to public safety, economic opportunity, environmental responsibility, and community well-being.
These are the same principles—and the same results-oriented approach—that I will bring to Sacramento to serve the residents of Assembly District 24.
Yang Shao’s Priorities in the State Assembly
If elected to represent Assembly District 24, my priorities will be clear:
Safe communities and a strong economy go hand in hand. I will support policies that protect residents, support victims, and allow businesses and workers to thrive.
A New Voice, Broad Support
I am running as a No Party Preference (NPP) candidate because I believe California needs problem-solvers, not partisans. I am honored to have received strong support and endorsements from a diverse group of state and local elected officials from both sides of the aisle, as well as respected community leaders, business leaders, and civic advocates.
That broad coalition reflects a simple truth: Californians want leadership that listens, delivers, and puts people ahead of politics.
Together, we can restore common sense, accountability, and compassion to Sacramento—and build a safer, more affordable, and more hopeful future for California.
